All aviation audits and fire training will be carried out in-line with the requirements of UK/Europe and ICAO.

It is recommended that all aspects of aviation training should be proceeded with an audit of the operation and/or the regulatory procedures. At the end of the audit a training needs analysis should be conducted to ascertain the training need for an individual airport.

Audit

The duration of the audit would be three weeks, which would include interaction with all Rescue and Firefighting Staff, management (and regulatory staff if required).

During the audit the following items may be reviewed ;

Management processes

Staffing levels

Organisational processes

Policy and procedures

Operational procedures

Fire station facilities

Emergency planning

Equipment and appliances

Maintenance procedures

Breathing apparatus training and maintenance procedures

Training procedures and plans

Training facilities

Interaction with local emergency services and backup plans

Training needs analysis


Theory Training

The content of each course would be relevant to the job role and all subjects covered would also form part of a structured learning programme which would be part of a formal station training programme, a review of which will be provided as part of the audit process.

All of the courses below would be on a theory only bases and any local practical training would be based on local facilities and equipment available.

Course Duration

Basic fire fighter 6 weeks

Breathing apparatus wearers 2 weeks

Firefighter 6 weeks

Full equipment training Dependant on level of equipment

Crew commander 4 weeks

Watch commander 4 weeks

Station commander 4 weeks

(All of the above courses should be discussed with the regulator)

All of the above course duration are based on the minimum time required to deliver each subject.


The courses below are all of 2 week duration each. These can be delivered once the above training has been completed. Some of the items will be covered in the above courses, but not in the same depth as the standalone courses.

Practical Training

These by nature are hard work and require a structured safe training programme and facilities. Initial practical training if facilities are available would be one week which would be in addition to the above courses. The items below would be subject to local facilities.
