Our BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering degree has been designed to meet the worldwide demand for specialist expertise in aircraft maintenance and overhaul. The course integrates EASA training into study modules and will give you real-life experience of maintenance practice to equip you with the knowledge and skills expected of a modern aerospace engineer.

Our aircraft maintenance engineering courses are recognised by aviation law, as detailed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), and gives you access to real aircraft experience.

Year one: Aircraft maintenance engineering degree

In your first year, you will study the principles of engineering and the EASA B1.1 basic knowledge modular structure in greater depth. You'll study the basic laws and theories of electrical and electronic fundamentals, aircraft materials, aerodynamics, physics, analytical methods, and professional practice.

Analytical methods for engineers - 20 credits

Aerospace mechanics - 20 credits

Electronic fundamentals for maintenance engineers - 20 credits

Aerospace materials and hardware - 20 credits

Electrical fundamentals for maintenance engineers - 20 credits

Professional engineering techniques - 20 credits

Year two: Aircraft maintenance engineering degree

In your second year, you will enhance your knowledge of propellors, maintenance practice, instrumentation systems and human factors, and hone practical and workshop skills. You will also study engineering management and issues surrounding the aircraft maintenance industry.

Aerospace turbine propulsion systems - 20 credits

Aviation legislation - 20 credits

Individual project - 40 credits

Teaching and assessments

You will be taught through a combination of lectures, practical activities and directed study in our impressive facilities at Dubai South Business Park. You will be required to attend approximately 27 hours per week during term time. The first year primarily covers theoretical aspects of aircraft engineering with some practical activities in avionics. Following your initial year, study is more mixed with practical activities such as working on the aircraft, carrying out mechanical repairs in the workshop and using composite materials.

Assessments include written assignments, coursework, ongoing class test and exams. You will also undertake EASA Part-66 examinations that can count towards a professional qualification, governed by European Aviation Safety Agency rules and regulations.
