BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Including Foundation Year)
If you don’t have the right qualifications to start our three-year Honours degree, or if you want to gain more confidence in higher level work, you could undertake our degree with a foundation year. The foundation year focuses on the study of aerospace mechanics and aircraft anatomy in order to provide a good numerical background that will support you throughout the remainder of the degree.
Our aircraft maintenance engineering courses are recognised by aviation law, as detailed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), and gives you access to real aircraft experience.
Following your initial foundation year, you will progress onto the modules studied as part of the BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Honours degree. You will study the following modules:
Foundation year: Aircraft maintenance engineering
The Foundation year focuses on the study of aerospace mechanics and aircraft anatomy in order to provide a good numerical background that will support you throughout the remainder of the degree.

Aerospace turbine propulsion systems - 20 credits
Aviation legislation - 20 credits
Individual project - 40 credits
Teaching and assessments
You will be taught through a combination of lectures, practical activities and directed study in our impressive facilities at Dubai South Business Park. Following the initial foundation year, you will be required to attend approximately 27 hours per week during term time. The second year primarily covers theoretical aspects of aircraft engineering with some practical activities in avionics. The third and fourth year of study is more mixed with practical activities such as working on the aircraft, carrying out mechanical repairs in the workshop and. using composite materials.
Assessments include written assignments, coursework, ongoing class tests and exams. You will also undertake EASA Part-66 examinations the can count towards a professional qualification.
