Adding the instrument rating to a flight instructor certificate provides holder the opportunity to enhance or evaluate the skills and knowledge of a person in pursuit of or already holding instrument privileges. 

On completion of the course a Certificated Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFII) will have:

-Logged at least 15 hours as pilot in command in a helicopter
-Receive knowledge training on the fundamentals of instructing if not already satisfied for Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI)
-Pass a knowledge test on the fundamentals of instructing, if not already satisfied for Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI)
-Pass the instrument flight instructor knowledge test
-Pass the required practical test that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought


Training:

Training will be conducted either in a helicopter (usually the Guimbal Cabri G2) using a view limiting device, simulating instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) and/or in our Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) which is approved for logging instrument time.  The AATD is a FlyIt Simulator model.


Pre-Course Requirements:

Be at least 18 years of age
Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
Hold either a commercial pilot certificate or airline transport pilot certificate with an aircraft category and class rating that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought
Hold an instrument rating on his or her pilot certificate appropriate to the category and class of aircraft used for the training provided.
