FLIGHT DISPATCHER

A flight dispatcher (also known as an airline dispatcher, flight follower or flight operations officer) works with pilots to ensure airline compliance, establish flight plans, confirm safety measures assists in planning flight paths, taking, into account, aircraft performance and loading, enrooted winds, thunderstorm and turbulence forecasts, for private, commercial and cargo aircraft, airspace restrictions, and airport conditions.
The HCAA (Hellenic Civil Aviation Academy) requires aircraft dispatchers to obtain certification through training and testing.

The holder of a diploma of this specialty:

Knowledge
Recognizes the English tourism terminology both in writing and orally, as the main language of air transports.
Presents the rules, laws, and clauses regarding Civil Aviation.
Describes the types and special characteristics of passenger aircrafts.
Describes the basic principles of meteorology.
Recognizes and describes the use of radio aids and navigational systems.
Familiarizes with the methods, measurements, and calculations of aviation.
Presents the steps for planning a flight.
Presents the rules for air traffic.
Recognizes the telecommunication and IT media and the use thereof.

Skills

• Communicates in writing and orally in English.
• Applies meteorology methods in flight plans.

• Performs aviation calculations to plan flights.
• Keeps track of civil aviation legislation in order, to be capable of adjusting his/her
work to it.
