Private Pilots Licence (PPL)

The PPL requires a minimum of 45 hours flight training, 10 of which will be spent solo. During the early part of the course you are taught how to manoeuvre the aircraft before moving on to the most exhilarating part – learning to take-off and land. After this you learn how to navigate and what to do if things don’t necessarily go according to plan!

The time that it takes to achieve the PPL depends upon the frequency of your lessons. It is possible to take a very intensive course and gain your licence in just a few weeks (weather dependent!). It is also possible to stagger the course over several years. However you wish to do it, Doncaster Sheffield Flight Training can build the course around you.

On completion of the PPL course you will gain a licence valid for your lifetime, and a single engine class rating (SEP) valid for 2 years, by which time it is in need of revalidation. Other aircraft type and class ratings can be added if you wish at a later date. For those wishing to pursue a commercial flying career, the PPL is the first step towards turning that dream into a reality.
