Basic Training Course (BTC)

Course Summary

This course has been specifically designed to meet the UK CAA and European requirements for ATCO Basic training. The training course provides a foundation for the theoretical knowledge and basic practical skills required for the career of Air Traffic Control.

This course is mandatory before undertaking any initial ATCO rating training course.

Entry Criteria

Have passed Global ATS’ aptitude test
Entrants must be at least 18 years old on completion
A valid European Class 3 medical
A good command of written and oral English

The UK Basic Training Course (BTC) is the starting point for anybody wishing to embark on a career in Air Traffic Control. The BTC is the prerequisite for all of the UK ratings courses including Aerodrome and Radar.
