How will this course benefit me?

This course aims to provide a basic skill-set for both safety practitioners and their managers by defining stakeholder expectations and showing how these expectations can be efficiently accomplished and managed throughout the product lifecycle. Drawing on best practice from across the aviation industry this course will:

-Ensure you understand the intent of the Safety Management System (SMS)
-Empower Project Managers / Team Leaders in the efficient control of safety-related activities
-Ensure your Safety Case/Assessment/Report provides concise and useable results
-Improve your ability to meet your safety obligations
-Improve your ability to manage relationships more effectively between the safety expectations of your authorities, operators and suppliers
-Give you greater confidence to understand and integrate your suppliers’ System Safety Assessments
-Provide clarity around the applicability and relationship of the various requirements such as RA1020, RA1205 and RA1220/ CS25.1309 and its equivalent in Def Stan 00-970/ FAR/C25.1309 or UK MAA RA1230.

Is this course right for me?
This course is specifically designed to help all providers of product, services and systems to the UK MOD to comply with the intent of Def Stan 00-56.
It is also suitable for MoD contracting personnel (i.e. DE&S, PT and Duty Holders) to help you to understand how to most effectively integrate the 00-56 deliveries (or DIDs in Annex C) into a single and manageable Safety Case.


Prerequisites:
Some experience in conducting, managing or approving safety related deliverables will be of benefit in understanding the concepts, advantages and limitations discussed.

Course details

Course format: This course is a balanced mix of group discussions, flipchart work and PowerPoint presentations. Managed syndicate exercises give you the opportunity to practise the application and evaluation of new processes and techniques.
Course level: Practitioner Level Training (P) is suitable for those who have worked in the subject for some time, are familiar with core terminologies and concepts and are looking to develop or update their level of knowledge and practical understanding.

Assessment process: No formal assessment. Formative feedback is provided by the facilitator.
Course size: 16 persons maximum at our Aviation Safety Academy or on-site at your facility
